Aklatan highlights the importance of public libraries in Metro Manila. It serves as a helpful guide and a directory for the public libraries to guide college students with their research and study needs. It also promotes a study conducive, collaborative environment, and also creates social awareness for the public libraries.

Public libraries offer books and services accessible to everyone. Not everyone has access to information and the public libraries provide to fill that gap. The public libraries collections consists of subject matters for all ages and interests and other special collections such as local history and artifacts. The libraries also play a big part with preserving their unique collection of locally based materials and historical archives.
